EE thread for July
I felt sorry for Liz, losing her only child. She looked like she was jumping to conclusions when she saw Denise being taken away by the police. I thought it was strange that Denise's main concern seemed to be what would happen to her if Lucas was locked up for years. That seemed more important to her than how Libby might feel.
The Peggy and Glenda fight looks neverending. Sometimes Peggy's winning, sometimes Glenda. Tonight, it was Peggy.

Re: EE thread for July
Libby barely got a mention last night. Surely the second person the police would talk to would be the daughter , I'm sure they wouldn't leave it up to a step father to casually mention her dad had been buried in the square.
Re: EE thread for July
Chelsea is so dependable. Lucas had hardly finished telling her she had to keep that information to herself, than she was telling Libby everything. I just love it when someone says "Just forget I said that" because it never works, it just makes you more determined to find out what they're talking about.

Re: EE thread for July
I'm very bored with Peggy and Glenda. Its not even as if I'm rooting for one of them to win, I find them both equally annoying.
I'm sorry for Liz even though she's really making problems for Denise. Denise was never very nice to her so Liz has no reason to support her.

Re: EE thread for July
I found the episode a bit too long, especially the car scenes with Lucas and Denise. Darren's attitude to Heather is just sad, he'll never be a proper father to that little boy.

Re: EE thread for July
Same here, I got bored half way through. I couldn't understand why Denise was sitting listening, I would have been out of the car and walking.
I liked Ian and Phil singing though, it's a pity they'll be back to enemies soon enough.

Re: EE thread for July
I was just annoyed at the predictability of the Christian being a nutcase. So now Lucas thinks he's Christ, and Denise, the harlot, is his Mary Magdalene. I was surprised at the final scene, I hadn't heard anything about Diane Parrish leaving. Surely Denise will survive the attack and Lucas will be locked up in a padded cell.

Re: EE thread for July
What on earth is wrong with Darren that he would create such a disgusting smell just by sleeping in the portacabin overnight? If Max wasn't exaggerating, that it smelled like something had died in there, the boy needs to see a doctor.
I knew Phil wouldn't see reason but I'm so glad that Shirley's finally realising just what she means to him ie nothing. Would Phil really be so stupid as to make a fugitive out of Ben, rather than pointing out that he does his six weeks then comes home with a clean slate?
That obviously wasn't Denise they pulled from the canal, but another of Lucas's women.

Re: EE thread for July
I wondered about the body, I haven't heard about Diane leaving, but what's the chances of having another totally fresh, black woman in the water in exactly the same place
I think Phil is stupid enough to do anything, he's never been the sharpest tool in the box.
And I agree about Darren, he hardly looks like a tramp who's been on the street for weeks. He must have really bad feet!

Re: EE thread for July
I'm confused now about what's going on with Lucas. I thought he was planning to pass the dead woman off as Denise, but he seemed to be encouraging Chelsea to identify the body too. It was Chelsea's decision to not go through with it at the last minute so how could Lucas expect the girl not to recognise her own mother? Or is he wily enough to just seize the opportunity? Whoever the woman is, she was definitely killed by Lucas.
I hope Shirley doesn't give in to Ben's pleading. She's got to get away from Phil. The scenes in Ian's house were silly, it was obvious the Masoods were going to ruin his carefully arranged seating plan.

Re: EE thread for July
Didn't watch it properly, but now I can't decide is it's Denise or not. She was at the police station a couple of hours earlier, so surely one of those would have recognised if it was her or not first.
If it's not Denise where is she? Did she manage to get away?

Re: EE thread for July
I'm as confused as ever. Unless Lucas either has Denise tied up somewhere or the woman in the canal really was Denise, he can't be sure she won't come back. I did laugh at Ian asking Zainab what time Lucas came to see her, it was so important for him that he was further up the list of respectable families . Zainab must be upset because she didn't respond to Ian calling Denise a murderer with "your little brother was almost the same thing".

Re: EE thread for July
I did like Zainab's retort about being surprised only one of Ian's previous wives had tried to kill him
Typical of Phil, who would take their son boxing the day before court

Re: EE thread for July
I was on Christian's side, I enjoyed him telling Zainab where to stick her food. Then he had to go and spoil it with that nasty spiteful remark about sex with the Masoods son. Couldn't sympathise with him after that.
Stacey's annoying again, it's so boring how the world has to revolve round her and her wants and the rest of the household bends over backwards to avoid upsetting her. Where does she think Becca's going to sleep now? If she insists on having her in the house, then she should share her room with the girl.
So it's bye bye to Charlie Jones and, in five months time, hello to a lad who can act?

Re: EE thread for July
If only that sentencing reflected real sentences, then we might not have load of yobs ruling the streets!
I agree about Christian, Zainab was incredibly rude to ignore him, but then he just went too far.
The talk with Chelsea made me laugh, she's just lost her mum, Libby has lost her mum and dad, Jordan's mum's memorial tree covered the crime, but she was taking Jordan for a 'nice day out'

I'm glad Syed and Christian are back together, I couldn't have stood much more of Syed's moody face. But I don't understand why he always has to wait until there's a houseful of people before he does these things

Re: EE thread for July
I never noticed, but yes you're right Jo, he does seem to need an audience.
I suppose we'll have a few months of Phil's moodiness coupled with Stacey's moods now. What joy lol.

Re: EE thread for July
I really admired Peggy tonight for refusing to waste any sympathy on Phil. She was right, he was selfish and more bothered about his own feelings than Ben's.
I was annoyed to see Lucy Beale get off scot free again. Adam deserved what he got but to see Lucy there cheering on Libby, then Libby's grateful glance to Lucy, I began to wonder if I dreamt the episodes where Lucy cheated.

Re: EE thread for July
Missed last night's episode. But wow what a lovely family the Mitchells are. Even if they didn't believe Ronnie, surely they must have thought there must be something wrong for her even to mention it. But no, the poison dwarf just starts shouting her mouth off again.
Christian was never the brightest spark, but even he wouldn't be daft enough to turn up at a mosque, like Syed said, it's not a cinema you don't go along to watch.
I missed the talk between Patrick and Jim, why does Patrick want them all out of the house at such an inopportune time?

Re: EE thread for July
What a depressing episode. Between the weeping and wailing at the Truman house, the same at Jack and Ronnie's flat, Zainab in mourning for a son who's still very much alive, and Abi Branning showing every sign of wanting to cook Jody's pet rabbit, no wonder EE has a reputation for being too downbeat.
I agree with Lou about Christian. Surely the sensible thing to do would be to research it on the internet? It was so disrespectful to just go barging into the mosque like that. That's why Christian and Syed are so well suited, they both do whatever suits them and don't really care how it affects others.
I'm not sure what happened with Patrick. I think he's just had enough of all the dramas. After all, they're not his family, no relation whatsoever. Libby occasionally calls him Pops, but she usually forgets and says Patrick. I think he just wants his life back and he's had enough grief with the loss of his own son. So maybe this is leading to Chelsea and Libby's leaving storyline? It would certainly be a good time for them to go, especially if Diane Parish really has left and Denise really is dead.

Re: EE thread for July
I'm glad Roxy's come round and only Peggy is out on a limb. Good. Even if she was sure Ronnie was lying, she was downright nasty about it instead of being worried about what made Ronnie say those things.
I did like Tamwar saying "one step at a time" as Christian was about to kiss Syed. Quite right too.

Re: EE thread for July
Yes I'm glad we didn't have weeks of Ronnie and Roxy at each other's throats over this.
I'm really surprised by Mas's stance. He's always been the one to give in and Zainab has been the vengeful one, but now they've swapped roles. I'm glad Tamwar is taking no notice as well.

Re: EE thread for July
Why is Peggy always so obsessed about family dinners? They always end badly so why does she keep doing it, the silly cah. I couldn't even feel sorry for her tonight, left all alone because of her nasty spiteful stubborn nature.
The cliffhanger wasn't much of a one, as soon as we saw Lucas walk down those stairs it was obvious what he'd been up to, after all that speculation. I don't know where he'll go from here, though. He'll have to either kill Denise or persuade her to never go home again.

You'll never guess, I didn't feel sorry for Peggy either Not much of a dinner though, roast beef, yorkshire pud but no veg
Had Denise ever mentioned another sister before? Or did the writers just pull her out of the hat?

Re: EE thread for July
I didn't know Denise had a mum, never mind another sister I've got to start paying more attention.
I thought Jake Wood was funny tonight as Max. He didn't want to look at Darren's bits, what man would (other than Christian, like Max said)? And Bianca is so annoying, treating Pat like an unpaid babysitter and a maid then whining that Pat is so selfish. Bianca really does need a kick up the nether regions.
