I think she should have been jailed for longer. Not only has she ruined the lives of the men she accused, but she has also added fuel to the fire of the 'she's just making it up' brigade, meaning more and more real victims will either not be believed, or not report it in the first place in case they get accused of lying.

I guess she must have been a bit of a mess, emotionally, to contemplate doing something like that so I suppose you could possibly make some sort of allowance for her actions, but what a wicked thing to do though. As someone pointed out in the comments underneath the article people who falsely accuse others of rape should maybe given the same sentence as a rapist. It's a bit severe maybe but the poor guy's life and his family have been wrecked as a result.

And you are right Lou - it will undoubtedly not help the cases of real rape victims. Sadly.

I was definitely on the mens side till I read some of the comments. One man thinks women who falsely cry rape should be jailed for twice as long as rapists. That says it all really. This case has made the headlines, why not tell the truth? A tiny number of women each year make these false accusations, yet a huge number of rapists each year go free. Yes, the women who do this deserve to be punished but these cases shouldn't overshadow the number of women who genuinely suffer sexual assaults nobody is ever convicted for.
