The late restaurateur Francis Coulson, who opened the hotel in 1948, first created sticky toffee pudding back in the 1970s. The pudding sells in the restaurant for £40.

An anonymous bidder paid £32,000 in 2006 as part of a Children In Need auction to stay in the hotel and make the dessert alongside one of the pastry chefs.

The money went to a good cause, at least. But as for it costing £40 to eat the sticky toffee pudding in their restaurant, I wouldn't pay that for a whole meal. Evil or Very Mad
