I loved this the first time around and still enjoying it with the repeats even when I can remember whodunnit and how. Alan Davies is perfect in the role but of all his sidekicks my favourite is Caroline Quentin.

Yes I much preferred Caroline Quentin, in fact I stopped watched after a couple of episodes once she'd left, because it just wasn't the same.
