Hit and Run Empty Hit and Run

The mother of an 11-year-old boy from Bristol who died in a hit-and-run crash has made a direct appeal to the woman police are trying to trace.
Rachel Riddall urged Hannah Saaf, 27, the registered owner of the car which hit and fatally injured her son Sam, to come forward to police.
"Please, as a mother who has lost a precious son, come forward," she said.
Sam died after being hit by the white Ford Focus on 1 May on Eastfield Road, Westbury-on-Trym.
Speaking at a police news conference, his father Martin Riddall spoke of the "impossible time" the family was going through since his son's death.

I know the woman must be scared, but how could you live with yourself if you didn't turn yourself in? Because chances are she's just an ordinary woman who made a fatal error while driving, rather than a career criminal who's used to brushing off crimes as nothing.

I don't understand it either. Maybe she is a decent person who panicked and temporarily lost her mind. If so, she'll confess sooner or later. If she's some hard nut who's just concerned about protecting her licence, I hope she gets caught and has the book thrown at her.

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the death of hit-and-run victim Sam Riddall.

Sam, aged 11, was killed when a car reportedly mounted the pavement and ran into him in Bristol.

Police had been trying to trace Hannah Saaf, 27, who was the registered owner of the Ford Focus car involved in the incident at Westbury-on-Trym on 1 May.

Officers have confirmed a woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The woman was arrested on the outskirts of Pensford near Bristol at approximately 1230 GMT on 10 May after being found asleep by a farmer in a barn.

Sam was killed as he walked along with Dr Peter Harbord, the father of one of his friends, and three other children at after leaving a youth club service at the nearby Henleaze and Westbury Community Church.

Police said a white Ford Focus estate car was travelling along Eastfield Road towards the centre of the village when it collided with the group.

The three other children involved in the incident, all thought to be aged 11, were uninjured while Dr Harbord received minor injuries and was released from hospital later that evening.

Sam's parents, Martin and Rachel, had made a public appeal for Ms Saaf to come forward.

A minute of applause to remember Sam was earlier held at his football club Rockleaze Rangers.

Former team mates of Sam, who played with the club until last year, paid their respects before their match against Bristol United

If she was living rough, at least she wasn't having fun. Too bad she didn't hand herself over to the police though. I'm so sorry for the little boy's parents. Sad
