I don't know what the writers are doing, but imo there's nothing normal about Sophie shoplifting from the Kabin. Rita isn't just the local shopkeeper, she's a personal friend of the Webster family. She's helped them out with money several times and was more of an honorary grandma than a neighbour. But the writers seemed to see it as a rite of passage, just something children do when they're growing up. It's not, the nasty thieving little wretch. I think Rita was too quick to forgive Sophie, she should have insisted on a couple of Saturday mornings working behind the counter.

Where on earth are Steve and Becky? They went away for a fortnight ages ago.

I thought that, I knew Rita would be forgiving, but to just brush it off as lightly as she did sends out the wrong message.

Sally on the other hand was totally true to form, not caring really about the fact Sophie stole from an old family friend, just how it would make her look Rolling Eyes

Not sure when Steve and Becky are due back, it must be soon.
