Sleepy Hollow Empty Sleepy Hollow

I watched this last night on Film 4, its an oldish film now, but that's the first time I've seen it.

I've known films to deviate slightly from the book, but this one hardly bared any resemblance at all. Apart from the the main characters having the same names there was little to link it to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In the book Ichabod Crane was a teacher, but in the film he was a police constable with a penchant for forensics Shocked

Having said that I love Johnny Depp, and he played the part brilliantly.

I'm glad I never read the book then cos it really annoys me when film-makers do that. I loved the film but I've always been confused by its description as horror/thriller when I found it very funny in places, intentionally so imo. I'd describe it more as a sort of black comedy.

Yes it was definitely more comedy than horror, but I think Johnny Depp has that sort of comic edge to his acting.
