Strictly Come Dancing
The Sun wrote:COR blimey guv’nor, Saturday nights are going all Cockney as THREE ex-EastEnders join Strictly Come Dancing.
The Beeb have nabbed Jessie Wallace, Gillian Taylforth and Phil Daniels for the new series.
Last night, a Beeb source said: “Jessie is a brilliant coup - she’s a born actress and you can just see her attacking the tango. You can imagine how mischievous she will be.”
The 36-year-old played hellraiser Kat Slater until 2005 — but she is also known for her disastrous OFF-screen relationship with policeman Dave Morgan, the father of her three-year-old daughter Tallulah.
Gillian, 53, played downtrodden Kathy Beale in the BBC1 soap and then had a role in ITV1’s Footballers’ Wives.
Phil, 49, who starred in cult flick Quadrophenia, was killed off as Kevin Wicks in a car smash last year.
The Walford three will be strutting their stuff alongside singer Rachel Stevens, chef Gary Rhodes and former England Rugby Union star Austin Healey.
Also in the show — which returns on September 13 — will be actress Cherie Lunghi, currently playing the madam in ITV2 series Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
Polo-playing model Jodie Kidd and soccer ace Teddy Sheringham have also signed up, as has Lisa Snowdon — who has already nabbed Strictly womaniser Brendan Cole as a partner.
Re: Strictly Come Dancing
Gary Rhodes should be funny to see.
I do watch Strictly probably the only thing that Pabs and I watch together.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing
John Sergeant has pulled out of the contest because he's in real danger of winning, despite being the worst dancer. Though how he lost two stones when he did very little rehearsing, I don't know.
All credit to him for leaving. It's really not fair to make it a popularity contest when the contestants are supposed to be judged on their dancing. Then again, it's not fair that some contestants have a dancing background or have been taking lessons prior to appearing on the show. Maybe the rules need tightening up.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing
I dont watch it, but my sister does and she's been telling me about it. I can see why the judges are upset, because its their profession and no one likes to think of their profession being dumbed down.
But IMO dancing should be entertaining, not just a set of steps and postures, and if John is the most entertaining, doesnt that then make him the best dancer rather than most technical dancer.
I think it might turn a lot of people off the programme, they're watching it to be entertained, and if the person they want to win has been made to leave (it was his decision, but it sounds like he was push toward it by the judges complaining), then they might not see the point in watching anymore.

I don't watch it, but if I'd voted every week to keep someone in, I'd be a bit peed off that they'd quit. He should have carried on and not let his fans down.

Re: Strictly Come Dancing
I can see both sides. If people just want to be entertained and they're getting a good laugh at John's exotic style of dance then they should be able to vote to keep him in. But for those who take it seriously and want the best dancer to win, I can see why they might be annoyed. I suppose it really would be unfair if John Sergeant won this dance competition when he has two left feet.
