Walford Women Empty Walford Women

The bad points of the characters are often focused on, so I thought I'd try and even it up and start of with some good and bad points for the women of Walford. Add more points or more characters if you wish

Jane
Good – Hard worker, despite having no experience with children has taken on a ready made family and tried her best (not always successfully, but then what parent does?).
Bad – Irritating, often smug, doesn’t stand up to Ian when he is in the wrong.

Tanya
Good – Hard working, good mother, faithful during the marriage, has raised herself up from her roots and left them behind.
Bad – Obviously the burial, went off the rails after the reveal (although has got back on track now), gave Max too many chances in the past leaving the door open to the Stax affair.

Dawn
Good – Has tried in the past to hold down a job, helped out Jay during the court case
Bad – Ignores Summer as much as possible, tried to sell her baby, conned the square into thinking she had breast cancer, has stuck in the chav lifestyle she was born into and hasn’t tried to move up in the world.

Denise

Good – Always tried the best for her kids,
Bad – Loud and obnoxious, often over bearing

Shirley
Good - Faithful friend to Heather, tries to look after the underdog (eg with Ben at the moment)
Bad - Didnt care about her own kids until it was too late, a drunk, selfish

I like the above. Very Happy

Peggy Good Points Caring mother, kind to Ben, good friend to have on your side
Bad Points Stubborn, opinionated. Can be a bitch. Very judgemental to Mark over his HIV, at first anyway.

Ronnie Good points Loyal sister, hard worker
Bad points Overbearing control freak

I would add to Peggy that she knows the importance of family, but then tends to forget that Billy and Honey are family and ignores their plights.

Here are some that I'm adding to...

Tanya
Good: Has good relationship with Lauren, gave Chelsea a second chance when she didn't have to, is generally nice to people instead of being a sourpuss like Shirley
Bad: Used Sean for stupid burial plotline and is still nasty to him, let Chelsea and Preeti ruin Dawn's hair despite having done the same thing as Dawn earlier in life, has fractious relationship with Abi and sometimes ignores Oscar's crying (though this was mainly when she was messing about with Sean), is sleeping with Jack while still married to Max

Shirley
Good: I actually can't think of any further good points for her
Bad: Is using Vinnie because Phil doesn't want her, is generally mean to people who aren't Heather, is sometimes also mean to Heather, slept around while she was married and didn't tell her kids who their real fathers were, uses alcohol to combat depression, does all the stuff Tanya did when she was going off the rails, but does it on a regular basis and without the disintegration of a fifteen year marriage to start her on the road

Jane
Good: Supports Ian even when he's a prat, is nice to Lucy in spite of how awful Lucy has been, sticks up for Peter when Ian is forcing him into sports
Bad: Gives awful advice especially to Tanya, was nasty to Dawn and Stacey after their affairs even though Jane slept with Grant, looks down on people of a lower class than her

And here are some who haven't been mentioned yet...

Roxy
Good: Fun loving and often kind, good friend to Christian, very loyal and quite family oriented, not pretentious, not judgemental
Bad: Is immature and irresponsible, too trusting, needs to grow up

Heather
Good: Sensitive, idealistic, romantic, kind, generous, eager to love
Bad: She has all the above qualities in spades. Too much of a good thing makes a bad thing

Stacey
Good: Family oriented and loyal, stands up for herself, admits it when she's wrong, consistently prefers other people not knowing her business, looks after her friends
Bad: Tendency to be loud mouthed and bitchy, tendency to hit downward spirals, takes rejection very hard, can be quite closed off, vengeful streak that often gets her in trouble

Of these characters, ones I like are Stacey and Roxy. Ones I used to like but don't at the minute are Tanya and Jane. The ones I've never liked and see no potential for liking are Heather and Shirley.

I totally agree with Heather and Stacey. I would also add promiscuous to Roxy's bad traits.
