Max
Ok I'll admit I'm not Max's biggest fan. I felt sorry for him when he was buried, not a thing I'd wish on anyone (well maybe just the one person ), but tonight he overstepped the mark once again. And TBH it was worse than serially cheating on his wife and wreaking his family twice.
To torment an extremely ill man is beyond contempt. It doesnt matter if you dislike a person because they've shown a preference to your younger brother or not, bullying someone in such a fragile state could have tragic consequences.

Re: Max
Hear hear. Will the Max supporters bring themselves to admit that his behaviour tonight was contemptible? He spent most of the eppy in a giant sulk, ignoring Bradley and Suzy who both told him to come to the party. Then he finally decides to get a card for his dad. He could have taken the moral high ground, he did turn up at the party but left when it was obvious Jim didn't want him there. If his appearance in the eppy had ended with Jack's phone call it would have been better for the character of Max. To see him threaten an old sick man was just disgusting. There was no excuse for that whatsoever, what a big brave fellow Max really is. He can't take Jack on (he's tried and failed) but he can rip Jack's picture up in front of his old dad. It was quite a contrast with his exit from the party, he didn't say a word cos there were too many people around. But he had plenty to say when he got Jim on his own. Max is a bully.

Re: Max
I didn't agree with Jack making that call at all. Although I can understand why he did, when someone behaves as badly as Max toward a person or persons then its easy to want to hit back (normally below the belt). But Jack should have the presence to rise above the level Max has set himself, and hopefully he will in the future.
Re: Max
That was a very moving scene and showed exactly what kind of man max is that he would pick on someone so helpless. Really dont like him at all.

Re: Max
Spoilers from DS's more detailed episode guide.
- Spoiler:
- ; Max hands Bradley a 21st birthday card; and Bradley and Stacey are in for a surprise when he eventually opens it…
Bradley's sitting in the living room at Dot's wondering what to do with Max's £40,000 cheque. He nearly rips it in half but can't bring himself to do it, while Stacey reassures him that if they cash it, they'll be indebted to Max for the rest of their lives. Later, Max tells Bradley that the money is his - not Stacey's, his. He's been saving for him since the day he was born, but Bradley's not willing to reason. When Bianca grabs the cheque off Bradley, she tells him not to let it slip through his fingers - Stacey need not know he's cashed it…
- Spoiler:
- So as not to spoil it for anyone who doesnt want to know I've put it in a spoiler tab.
Does Max honestly think that throwing money at his son is going to make up for missing out on his entire life, and then in the two years he's been back in his life, that it'll make up for the amount of times he's let him down and slept with his wife?
And again Max is trying to come between Stacey and Bradley by saying the money is his and not Stacey's, well if he wanted to give it to Bradley he should have given it to him before the wedding. Because they're married now so their lives are shared the same as their money is shared.
Re: Max
Of course. And if Max really had been planning for all those years to give the money to Bradley, why wait till now? He could have handed it over when he and Bradley bonded again, or when Bradley married Stacey. Is he just using Bradley's 21st, is it sheer coincidence that Bradley and Stacey are once again planning a future together and Max is coming between them? He's incredible, is Max. Totally amoral.

Re: Max
Just reading over on WW, theres a scan of Soaplife which says
Yet again Tanya is being the reasonable one and trying to keep things normal for the kids, but Max can't just accept that people separate and that's that. Its not like he hasn't been through a divorce once already, his obsession with Tanya borders on the psychotic.
Max has been desperate for Jack and Tanya to get home from their holiday for he can press on with getting shot of his brother and winning her back.
The minute he sees them he's straight round with presents for the kids. And as Tanya is fed up of all the game playing and wants things back to normal, she lets him in.
Its just the sort of crumb of encouragement that Max needs to feed his fantasy that he'll soon be playing happy families with Tanya all over again. But first he needs to destroy Jack....'

Re: Max
I've thought all along that Tanya is far more reasonable than Max. She's been blamed for "sending Max away" and keeping him from his kids, when she's done neither of those things. Max made the decision to leave not just Tanya but the children as well. He's totally obsessed with her and he can't move on.

Re: Max
I cant understand the argument that Tanya sent Max away. Its been obvious from the moment they stepped into the square that Max is the dominating force behind the relationship, and unfortunately Tanya is an extremely weak woman. She showed that initially by forgiving Max over and over for his cheating, rather than kick him out on his ear. And lately by having to have a man around, rather than manage as a single mother.
There is no way Max would have gone if it wasn't something he wanted to do, everything has been played to Max's tune so far, which is why Jack is getting to him, because Jack can stand up to Max whereas Tanya cant.

Re: Max
The idea of Max as a victim is so silly. He's called the shots right from the start and if he's now getting a taste of what Tanya's put up with for years then he deserves it.
