Dotty Cotton
I can't make up my mind about this little girl. I go from thinking she's a nasty little madam to thinking she's an abused and neglected child living in fear of Nick. I don't even know if he's really her dad, it's more likely he's her mum's boyfriend and mum's in prison.
It might be nice if it turns out that Dotty really is Dot's grandaughter and she's a good girl. Maybe Nick can just go away and leave Dotty in Walford, but I don't think social services can get involved cos they'd never give a 75-year-old custody of a young child. I don't think they would anyway.

Re: Dotty Cotton
She seemed to be scared of Nick a couple of episodes ago, and the way he started to move as if he was going to hit her it certainly looked like it wouldnt have been the first time. So I think shes more scared than nasty.
The social services do try and keep families together as much as possible, so if Dotty is Dots real granddaughter, and Bradley moved back in to help, they might well allow her to stay and have someone pop in to help Dot is necessary.

Well then I think it would be great. We haven't had a good cross-generational pairing since Bert and Jay, so seeing Dot and Dotty form a bond would be wonderful. It would certainly be cheering among the usual sadness and despair of EE if we could see real love developing and watch Dotty grow up in Dot's household. If Dotty really is neglected then she and Dot need each other desperately.

Re: Dotty Cotton
I found Bert and Jay very touching. Jay's concern for his grandad's eye problems showed a different side to him. It might be nice to see Dot and Dotty having the same concern for each other.

Re: Dotty Cotton
She seemed reasonably decent tonight, still a little to good to be true though. Although Nick has probably told her to suck up to Dot or else, so she's too scared to be a normal kid.
Re: Dotty Cotton
I've changed my mind about Dotty now. I think she loves Dot and is trying to get Nick out of their lives, so I'm still hoping we get another grandparent/grandchild pairing like Bert and Jay. It just seemed too pat to me, Dotty finding that insurance policy and talking Nick into this silly plot. I think it was Nick saying they'd already made enough money out of Dot and shouldn't push their luck that made me change my mind. Dotty strikes me as far too clever to push her luck.
This will probably come back and bite me but it's how I'm reading the situation at the moment.

Re: Dotty Cotton
I think its pushing it a bit to think that a 7/8 year old would plot to kill her grand mother. I reckon Dotty will be the one that saves Dot at the last minute. But hopefully get taken into care afterward, because I dont think I could stand listening to the Oliver Twist accent for much longer.
Re: Dotty Cotton
I can't get my head around a child that age being so evil, I prefer to think Dotty/Kirsty has been so screwed up by Nick she doesn't know right from wrong. Friday's eppy, where she seems like some kind of criminal mastermind, was too much for me.

Re: Dotty Cotton
This week's episodes have shown Dotty the Child rather than Dotty the Criminal Mastermind. Her attempts to get little Tiff into trouble have shown a rather nasty spiteful child, but a child nevertheless. Most of us have encountered this type, the type who sucks up to authority figures whilst twisting the knife in a weaker companion. Dotty's "we told her not to, Mr. Butcher" when Tiff was caught using the Pat Cars radio was a good example of this kind of unpleasant little girl.
It also showed that Liam is his father's son, led around by a member of the fair sex and taking the line of least resistance.

Re: Dotty Cotton
I never watched the bits with Dotty closely. But it struck me as quite a normal thing for older kids to do, the young ones have been getting blamed for everything since the year dot, I know my brother always blamed me!
