Silly burglars

Tue Oct 13, 2009 8:36 pm by HiJo

Here is a little tip for any would-be burglars out there. If you get lost while trying to flee the scene of a crime, DO NOT stop a police patrol car and ask for directions.

You may think it goes without saying, but apparently not for a pair of dumb crooks in Germany who did exactly this after breaking in to three car dealerships and a construction site.

The men aged 20 and 28, were heading for the Czech Republic after carrying out the raids in Saxony, Germany -- but in their heady post crime-spree state forgot their way home.

They then made their second error of the evening (the first being to think they were smart enough to get away with any crime) by pulling over and asking cops in a police patrol car for directions.

As the couple hadn't covered up stolen goods thrown into the back of their car, the officers didn't exactly need the deductive powers of Sherlock Holmes to recognise that something was amiss when they glanced into the vehicle. The men were arrested immediately.

Needless to say they didn't get the directions they had asked for. Next time use a TomTom, lads.

I can almost feel sorry for them, they weren't cut out for a life of crime.
