What a sad tale this is

The High Court is due to hear the heartbreaking case of a child known as Baby RB. He and his family cannot be named for legal reasons.

Baby RB was born last year with a rare neuromuscular condition which means he relies on a ventilator to survive. His doting parents have been with him since his birth, although they have had an amicable separation from one another.

Whilst both parents clearly adore their son, they have different opinions on what would be ...

A 10-year-old boy accidentally hanged himself while playing on a rope swing, police said.

The schoolboy had been playing on ropes, which were hanging from trees, in Hutton Woods, near Boosbeck, Cleveland, on Saturday night.

The circumstances of exactly how the boy came to be trapped are still being investigated by Cleveland Police, but officers are treating it as a tragic accident.

Local councillor Peter Spencer, who represents Hutton ward on Redcar and Cleveland Council, said the community ...

The baby and children have been taken away from their 23st mother due to obesity scares. This story horrifies me. To take away a day old baby from it's mother, (not to mention the other children), is unbelievably cruel. I appreciate there are health concerns and the parents have been offered help, but I think thiis decision is totally wrong. How about removing the children of drug addicts, alcoholics etc.

Here is a little tip for any would-be burglars out there. If you get lost while trying to flee the scene of a crime, DO NOT stop a police patrol car and ask for directions.

You may think it goes without saying, but apparently not for a pair of dumb crooks in Germany who did exactly this after breaking in to three car dealerships and a construction site.

The men aged 20 and 28, were heading for the Czech Republic after carrying out the raids in Saxony, Germany -- but in their heady post ...

Parents who regularly look after their friends' children must register as childminders, Ofsted said as two policewomen were warned off caring for each other's youngsters.

The regulator stressed that people who baby-sit for one another's children for more than two hours at a time or for more than 14 days per year should be registered.

This applies where parents receive a "reward" for the childcare - which can include money or simply free baby-sitting in return.

A premature baby declared dead by doctors at a hospital in Paraguay was found to be alive hours later when he was taken home for a funeral wake.

Jose Alvarenga said he had discovered his son was alive after he heard crying from the box in which he was placed.

The baby is now back at the same hospital's intensive care unit and reported to be in a stable condition.

The head of paediatric care at the hospital said a doctor had not properly checked the infant's vital signs.

I've just read this story on the Daily Mail website. The boy has been spared jail because of her scantily clad images and highly sexual language used by her on Bebo. He received 2 years probation and will be put on the Sex Offenders Register. The boy was 15 when this incident happened and thought the girl was of a similar age to himself. As he was also under the legal age of consent, shouldn't she be charged with the same thing? Neither of these children should have b een having sex but I don't ...

Arifa Farooq was detained on Wednesday and held in a police cell in the wake of a Panorama investigation into care providers in South Lanarkshire.

It is believed her arrest is related to an alleged failure to provide accurate personal details to the employer.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the incident in Halifax Road, Grenoside on Tuesday afternoon appeared to be "a tragic accident".

The couple are thought to have been preparing for a day out when the 85-year-old man reversed the automatic Mercedes saloon on the driveway.

The car hit his wife and then crashed through a low wall, police said.

But, really, should we have any sympathy for a man who raped and murdered an 11-year-old boy? The only question appears to be "did he have a fair trial" and the answer is "probably not", by UK standards anyway where we bend over backwards to protect the rights of the accused. There's an elderly lady who lives near me and we often stop for a chat as we walk our dogs. A few months ago I was going to work and met her at the end of our road. This was 1.30pm, and she was so pleased to see me. She'd had a phone call that morning to say she was a great-grandmother, and I was the first person she'd seen to tell the good news.
